Sierra Leone Village
One of the purposes of the church is to be "the hands and feet of Christ." In other words, we believe we are called to reach out to people with the love of Christ. This means meeting people's physical needs as well as sharing the Gospel of Jesus. Jesus sought to do both, so we follow His example. Whether in our community, country, or all around the world, we seek to share the love of Jesus through: international missions, national missions, local missions, and supporting missionaries.
On the international level, we participated in a 3-year project in Sierra Leone, called the Sierra Leone Village Partnership Project. This project impacted Mabum Station, a village in Sierra Leone, by:
Year 1: Planting a pineapple farm
Year 2: Digging a fresh water well
Year 3: Building a church!
Update:
We extended this project by an additional year! During the project, a nearby village of Makump Kaepath came alongside and provided invaluable labor for the project. Since the two villages have both benefitted from the work to-date, the only thing missing for the second village was a fresh water well of their own.
At a distance of almost a mile apart, it has been an incredibly long haul for Makump Kaepath to make for the procurement of fresh water, which is literally life to the people of this area.
The bottom line is this: with one additional year of partnership between our district and these two villages, both villages will have a farm, church and fresh-water wells from which to benefit. Details can be found in the video on this page.
